Intern, Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC), Edgewater, MD         May - August 2017

  • Worked in the Fish & Invertebrate Ecology Lab (Dr. Anson Hines and Dr. Matthew Ogburn, PIs)

  • Assisted in field research, including near-shore surveys, trawling, predation surveys, oyster reef restoration, and specimen collection

  • Analyzed data from the Chesapeake Bay Barcode Initiative (CBBI) and presented a PowerPoint of my findings to the SERC research community

  • Edited specimen photographs for CCBI

 

Independent Field Researcher, Fish Diversity Survey, San Salvador Island, Bahamas  January 2017

  • Surveyed fish diversity of 3 shore reefs in Graham’s Harbor, San Salvador Island as part of St. Olaf College’s Island Biology in the Bahamas course at the Gerace Research Centre

  • Identified 50 species of fish from 22 different families

  • Collected and analyzed data, then presented a poster of my results at a symposium
